Walks and nature discovery in Pays de Monts

campsite in Notre Dame de Monts
recommends the Pays De Monts national forest, a magnificent setting for nature walks and discoveries.

The state forest of Pays de Monts stretches along the dune, 25 km long, between Fromentine in the north and Sion sur l’Océan in the south.
Its width does not exceed 2,300 meters, and it has a total area of 2,280 hectares.
You can learn to recognize and differentiate between the different types of pine trees and identify the tracks of wild animals.

The heronry – It remains a curiosity of the state forest of the Pays de Monts. In a privileged site, grey herons and little egrets live together. The shy flight of the young and the bickering between these two species will delight you. La Héronnière gathers more than 900 nests in total. Maritime pines, with an average height of 20 m, can contain up to ten nests per tree from April to early June.
